Alentejo II

Oi Pessoal,

Bem, nossa viagem para o Alentejo tinha como principal missão levar nossa Princesinha/Monstrinho para o Badoca Park. Mas também queríamos dar uma olhada na tão famosa (ao menos em Portugal) costa alentejana e ver as praias de que eles falam tanto aqui. Eu as conheci quando criança, mas não tinha mais lembrança delas, porém a Docinho nunca tinha ido e essa era uma chance. Além disso, há algumas cidades naquela região que não tínhamos conhecido ainda (Sines, Alcacer do Sal, Santiago do Cacém, Tróia...) e que gostaríamos de dar uma olhada. Enfim, fomos à caça de lugares legais.

Nós ficamos em Sines, porque é a cidade mais famosa da região e próxima do Badoca Park (uns 12 km de distância). A cidade é famosa aqui em Portugal por ter um grande festival musical no verão e pelo surf na região. Assim sendo, fomos cheios de esperanças.

Ficamos num apart-hotel chamado Sinerama, que é bem central na cidade e pertinho do castelo e também das praias da cidade. O hotel em si é simples, mas legalzinho. Custou 66 euros a diária do quarto de casal (com cama extra) e vista para o mar e com café da manhã incluído (o café é sem luxos, mas adequado... nada a reclamar). O quarto tem fogão, forno comum elétrico, louça, talheres, geladeira (não é frigobar), além do resto normal (TV, ar condicionado e etc). O aproveitamento de espaço é sensacional! Nem parece que tem uma cozinha no quarto! Fica tudo embutido... realmente interessante. O quarto é simples, mas limpinho e adequado. As camas são estreitas, padrão década de 1980, portanto, se for grandão ou gordo ou estiver acostumado com camas King, vá preparado. O banheiro é meio antigão, mas também adequado, com tudo direitinho e limpo. Não tivemos problemas com barulho, mas vimos nas reclamações do Booking que muita gente reclamava disso, porém como fomos completamente fora de época isso não foi problema... não sei para quem for no verão, porque parece ficar bem cheio nesta época. É fácil de estacionar (lembrando que fomos fora de época!) pertinho do hotel, além de ter vários pequenos restaurantes, farmácia, minimercado e padaria pertinho, portanto, sem motivo de preocupação com comida. Aliás, o menu do hotel é bem em conta ao contrário da maioria dos hotéis onde ficamos e que cobram um olho e uma perna por um refrigerante, os preços no Sinerama são normais como num restaurante comum.

A cidade de Sines é uma decepção. Pelo tanto que ouvimos falar do festival e do que costumam mencionar na TV nós esperávamos algo bem melhor. A cidade parece ter tido melhores tempos e hoje vive de pesca, algumas indústrias, inclusive uma refinaria GIGANTE que tem na entrada da cidade, do porto e do turismo. Está bem degradada para o nosso gosto com muitas pichações, cães e gatos pelas ruas (algo muito incomum aqui) e bares com gente com a maior cara derrotada.

As praias são do padrão "portuga", isto é, areia grossa, meio escura, sem ondas, com pedras permeando a areia em alguns lugares e relativamente pequena em comprimento (uns 300 a 500 metros no máximo). Longe, muito longe do que eu considero bonito (meu padrão: Arraial do Cabo, Cabo Frio, Barra da Tijuca e etc).

O Castelo de Sines foi outra decepção. Só há basicamente a muralha externa, sem nada dentro, mas sem o charme de Montemor-o-Velho.

De legal foi ver a casa onde nasceu Vasco da Gama (sou flamenguista, viu?!), totalmente renovada e sem as características originais, mas ainda assim está lá e isso é interessante.

Atrapalha um bocado aproveitar as praias o fato de haver um porto gigante em cada ponta da cidade para o desembarque de petróleo e pesca, além de ao fundo haver uma enorme termoelétrica no horizonte matando um bocado da paisagem.

Bem, ainda no conselho de Sines há outras praias, estas sim melhores um pouco, mas não tanto. A paisagem é linda, entretanto, com falésias levando ao mar de um azul cobalto, com ondas grandes e bonitas, típico cenário para surfistas. Entre estas falésias há praias, mas quase que no mesmo padrão das da cidade de Sines, exceto por terem ondas. Nestas contamos Porto Covo (a povoação em si é uma gracinha... casinhas brancas sobre o mar... bem bonitinha mesmo) e Vila Nova de Milfontes (também bonitinha).

Resumindo, o litoral é bonito, mas as praias não estão nem de longe dentro do que gostamos. Vale a pena? Sim, acho que vale, mas não sei se vale IR lá PARA ISSO. Estando por ali ou indo para alguma outra coisa, sem dúvida vale a pena passear pelo litoral de Sines e região, mas ir lá para ver o litoral, na boa, não acho que velha, ao menos não de longe como é o nosso caso.

We stayed in a condo-hotel called Sinerama, which is very central in the city and close to the castle and also the city's beaches. The hotel itself is simple, but kinda cool. We had no problems with noise, but saw in the Booking complaints that many people complained about this, but as we were completely out of season it was no problem ... do not know who is in the summer, because it seems to get quite crowded at this time. It's easy to park (remembering that we were out of season!) Close to the hotel, besides having several small restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket and bakery, so close without a concern with food. Incidentally, the menu of the hotel is well into account unlike most hotels where we stayed and they charge an eye and a leg for a soda prices in Sinerama are normal as an ordinary restaurant.

The city of Sines is a disappointment. We heard at both the festival and they usually mention on TV we expected something better. The city seems to have had better times and now lives fishing, some industries, including a GIANT refinery that has the entrance to the city, the port and tourism. Okay degraded to our liking with many graffiti, dogs and cats on the streets (something very unusual here) and bars with people with greater face defeat.

The beaches are the standard "portuga", ie, coarse sand, medium dark, without waves, with stones permeating the sand in some places and relatively small in length (about 300 to 500 meters maximum). Far, far away from what I consider beautiful (my default: Arraial do Cabo, Cabo Frio, Barra da Tijuca, etc).

The Castelo de Sines was another disappointment. There is basically only the outer wall, with nothing inside but without the charm of Montemor-o-Velho.

Was cool to see the house where Vasco da Gama was born (I'm a Flamengo Fan so let you know!), fully renovated and no original features, yet is there and that's interesting.

In short, the coastline is beautiful, but the beaches are not nearly within what we like. Worth it? Yes, I think it is worth, but do not know if there worth GO FOR IT. By being there or going for something else undoubtedly worth strolling along the coast of Sines and region, but go there to see the coastline, good, do not think that old, at least not as far as is our case.
